Healthgrades Top 50 Hospital

For six years in a row, EvergreenHealth Medical Center has landed on among the Healthgrades Top 50 Hospitals for clinical excellence, placing our community hospital in the top 1% of nearly 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide.  The top hospitals rating is based on patient outcomes across more than 30 common clinical procedures, meaning patients can feel confident in the quality of their care. In 2026, EvergreenHealth also earned the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award, making it one of just eight hospitals to rank in the Top 50 for clinical excellence and receive recognition for outstanding, patient-centered care.

Other awards and recognition of note for EvergreenHealth include:

  • Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (2026)
  • 15 Consecutive Leapfrog Group “A” Ratings for Hospital Safety (2019-26)
  • 11 Consecutive Years of CMS Compare 5-Star Rating (2026)
Cornerstone Equipment

Over the past five years, philanthropy has supported the purchase of several new pieces of major medical equipment, investments that elevated specialty care across the hospital and improved access to care for patients.

For example, in 2022, a group of donors came together in support of radiation oncology at EvergreenHealth. Their giving allowed EvergreenHealth to purchase an advanced linear accelerator for the hospital and to update the existing machine. The linear accelerator is used to perform a procedure called stereotactic body radiotherapy and can deliver higher doses of radiation with higher cure rates in fewer radiation sessions.

The biplane interventional suite (pictured) enables neurosurgeons to practice their best medicine in an emergency, giving real-time imaging and a less invasive surgery for stroke care patients.

Most recently, EvergreenHealth donors invested in two new MRI machines, the 1.5T, installed in late 2025, and a 3T, projected to be ready for patient imaging in early 2027. The 3T MRI produces higher resolution images and allows patients to complete their imaging or treatments at the Kirkland campus instead of traveling elsewhere. The MRIs improve access to care and keep resources in the hospital system.

“A 3T MRI will elevate our capabilities across the hospital system, opening the doors for more sophisticated imaging and treatment options at EvergreenHealth. It is transformative for our patients."

Lifelong Learning

At EvergreenHealth, patients are the priority and our people are our greatest assets. Philanthropy has allowed EvergreenHealth to elevate the quality of continuing education for our clinicians with the Clinical Excellence Training Center, a state-of-the-art classroom simulation lab that keeps EvergreenHealth clinicians prepared for every scenario. Top-of-the-line training for clinicians is a signal to the best and brightest in medicine that EvergreenHealth is a place where the quality-of-care matters.

Most recently, in 2026, EvergreenHealth achieved Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center for exceptional nursing and patient care. Magnet status is a signal to the best and brightest nurses that EvergreenHealth goes the extra mile to support staff and that the hospital is a place where patient care is always prioritized.

EvergreenHealth Foundation also partners with the hospital to support an Employee Financial Assistance Fund, which funds grants to EvergreenHealth employees experiencing financial hardship. By easing these burdens, EvergreenHealth aims to support team members and help them show up to work as their best selves, a benefit that extends to patient care, also.

"Investing directly in the hospital where my granddaughters were born was a very natural thing to do – there are so many benefits to this training center, and it’s truly amazing to see in action."

Research

For more than 30 years, clinical researchers at EvergreenHealth have moved the needle on emerging medications and treatments for complex clinical conditions. Philanthropy helps EvergreenHealth Research invest in the infrastructure necessary to bring new clinical trials to the Puget Sound region and expands access to research opportunities to the broader community.

Clinical trials in the community have tremendous potential for EvergreenHealth patients by giving them access to drugs that may not be on the market yet. Clinical trial participants also receive extensive testing and monitoring of their condition, often at no cost.

EvergreenHealth’s research division has been responsible for transformative clinical advancements. For example, the medical director of clinical research at EvergreenHealth, Pinky Agawarwal, MD, was one of the principal investigators on an landmark study that identified a biomarker via skin biopsy that could be used to diagnose Parkinson’s disease and other related neurological disorders. EvergreenHealth was one of the participating clinical trial sites for this study and many other Parkinson’s disease trials.

EvergreenHealth clinical trial partners include the EvergreenHealth Neuroscience Institute, EvergreenHealth Heart Care and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.

At EvergreenHealth Foundation, your giving matters.

All donations to EvergreenHealth Foundation go toward the hospital. Local giving for local health care offers a meaningful way to bring positive, transformative changes to the people in our community.
